The 8th Edition of the European Microfinance Research Award is co-sponsored by the Research Group "Financial Inclusion and New Entrepreneurship" of the Hague University of Applied Sciences and the European Microfinance Network (EMN). This year's award has a €1 000 endowment!

The 3 finalist candidates have been selected!

We are happy to announce the names of the three finalists. The winner will be announced during the EMN AC:

K. Dayson / P. Vik (University of Salford): The Impact of Crowdfunding on European Microfinance.

G. Di Maio / P. Landoni (Politecnico di Milano): Indirect Microcredit Models: The Use and Potential of Guarantees in Microcredit.

V. Patetta (European Microfinance Programme – ULB): Microfinance and Roma Empowerment in the EU: A Mission Impossible?



Papers eligible for selection have presented ongoing or finalised research on issues related to microfinance in the European Union and EFTA countries exclusively.

Papers dealing with a subject related to financial inclusion, job creation, partnership with mainstream financial sector, information technology and innovation, social performance measurement, impact assessment and social entrepreneurship have been especially valued. 

Selection process timeframe was:

  • Handing in of abstracts: Monday, 19th January, 2015
  • Acceptance notification: Monday, 26th January, 2015
  • Handing in of full papers: Monday, 9th March, 2015
